In a far-ranging interview on tariffs and trade policies currently facing the United States wine
importers and European exporters and looking towards the future, NABI President Robert M.
Tobiassen gave a lengthy interview to the Italian publication IL CORRIERE VINOCOLO/ Wine
Exploring the background of the current retaliatory tariffs in the Airbus/Boeing trade dispute at
the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the Steel an Aluminum Tariffs under the Section 232
of U.S. trade law relating to national defense and security to the “build, back, better” philosophy
of the Biden/Harris Administration as applied in its trade policies, the interview examines how
the U.S. and European Union arrived at where they are today and opines on new directions
under USTR Ambassador Katherine Tai’s leadership.
