New President at NABI

  News..... from NABI regarding their appointment of Rob Tobaissen as the new president of the importers organization (effective October 1).

He takes over for Bill Earle, who served for almost 12  years as the organization's chief executive. Justin Kissinger (a HEINEKEN global employee), is the chairman of the organization, and had the following statement:

“We are extremely pleased that Rob will be leading the Association. He brings a wealth of knowledge and practical experience to our community of importers. He has continued to stay active following his retirement from TTB gaining valuable insights in the private sector.”

New York City, September 13th -- The National Association of Beverage Importers has selected Robert (Rob) Tobaissen as its new president. Rob succeeds Bill Earle who has served almost a dozen years as the organization’s chief executive.

Rob is a former Chief Counsel for the Treasury Department’s Alcohol, Tobacco Tax and Trade Administration. While at TTB he was the principal legal advisor to senior executives and Treasury Department officials. He managed legal interpretations, regulations and administrative rulings, legislation (including amendments to the Internal Revenue Code) and Congressional testimony. Rob is an expert at evaluating enforcement actions under the Internal Revenue Code, Federal Alcohol Administration Act, and other Federal laws relating to alcohol and tobacco products and excise taxes.

NABI chairman Justin Kissinger said that, “We are extremely pleased that Rob will be leading the Association. He brings a wealth of knowledge and practical experience to our community of importers. He has continued to stay active following his retirement from TTB gaining valuable insights in the private sector”

Rob will succeed Bill Earle on October 1, 2018. Bill has agreed to remain available to Rob to facilitate a smooth transition. Chairman Kissinger commented that, “No one will be able to replace Bill, but we are pleased to have found a worthy successor. He is leaving to join his wife, Diane, in tending to a gaggle of nine grandchildren from their home near Shenandoah National Park in Virginia. We will miss his accessible and creative style.”
